Release notes
What changed in Ai-Inspect, release by release — in the engine's own terms: what a feature measures, what it refuses and where the result lands in the report.
8.36.0
GD&T plots, Measurement Copilot stepper, analytic wall nominal and the start-up licence screen.
Roundness and profile plots
HeadlineEvery roundness result carries a polar plot with the LSC / MZC / MIC / MCC circles and the min / max points; every surface or line profile carries a signed deviation map, the zone diagram (Bilateral, U or UZ) and a histogram. The plot is drawn from the same numbers as the table row and is never a second evaluation; it opens from the GD&T table and is placed in the PDF report.
Module page: GD&T EngineMeasurement Copilot — one linear stepper
HeadlineAfter a program run you land on the Copilot: summary → datums → gaps → FAIL review → finish, with one primary action per phase. Datum candidates come from a closed set and the operator always picks; a skipped datum no longer blocks finishing. Finishing produces the report and saves the extended program.
Module page: Measurement CopilotWall Thickness Grid — analytic nominal on cylinders and cones
The CAD nominal under each grid point is snapped from the STEP tessellation to the analytic surface of the catalogued face (cylinder, cone, sphere), so a 2.000 mm tube wall reads 2.000 and not the chord-to-chord value. Planes, STL and free-form faces are unchanged; a rival face inside the snap tolerance leaves the mesh value in place rather than guessing.
Module page: Analysis Suite — Plane Grid, Wall Thickness & Section ProfilePlane Grid — Profile mode
Besides FORM (flatness against the measured plane) a grid can be evaluated as PROFILE against the CAD face itself, in the current or a saved coordinate system. Without a catalogued CAD face or when the saved CS is gone the run is refused by name — there is no fall-back to the element plane.
Module page: Analysis Suite — Plane Grid, Wall Thickness & Section ProfileSurface Best-Fit on whole B-rep faces
A click on a STEP model now selects the whole face of the B-rep — including B-spline and torus faces that are not in the analytic catalogue. On STL the region grows to the nearest crease. An under-constrained selection is refused with the free degrees of freedom named; a descent guard stops the ICP when the RMS would rise.
Module page: Surface Best-FitProfile sign on nearly-closed CAD tessellations
Real STEP tessellations often leak a few open edges. The material side for U / UZ zones is now proven on such meshes with two independent checks (self-consistency and a B-rep classifier on probe points away from the surface); when they disagree the profile is refused and Bilateral is suggested.
Module page: GD&T EngineStart-up licence screen and the Analysis module
A licence that is missing, expired or for another machine shows a plain-language screen with the machine code, a drop zone for the .lic file and the list of licensed modules. Plane Grid, Wall Thickness Grid, Section Profile and the 2D editor are grouped in the Analysis licence module; every gate refuses by module name.
Module page: Inspection Workspace & Auto AlignmentOffset-basin pose guard
A thin printed part can converge to the wrong basin of its back face and sit a few millimetres off along one axis. The alignment now groups the signed surface distance along the principal axes, tries the shifted poses and asks the operator when a shift is supported by two independent witnesses. It never applies the shift on its own.

MMC / LMC bonus, manual move / rotate, grids on cylinders and cones, modular licensing.
MMC / LMC bonus on position and concentricity
HeadlineThe zone is judged once — declared zone plus the material-condition bonus from the measured size — by every consumer: table, PDF, CSV, Excel, PAS, duplicate and replay. The hole / shaft side is read from the CAD; a callout that contradicts the CAD refuses the bonus and judges the zone as RFS.
Module page: GD&T EngineManual move / rotate dialog
Six axis rows with quick steps, arrow-key nudges and typed totals; every step is one recorded, undoable transform. The measured elements travel with the scan. On very large scans the dialog applies the move immediately and defers the heavy colour-map rebuild until the operator stops.
Module page: Datums, RPS & Coordinate SystemsPlane Grid and Wall Thickness Grid on cylinders and cones
HeadlineThe same wrapped lattice with per-point normals: cylindricity / conicity with min-zone, circularity per ring and straightness per axial line; wall thickness read from both sides of a pipe with the material side detected automatically.
Module page: Analysis Suite — Plane Grid, Wall Thickness & Section ProfileModular licence file
One licence file carries the modules — Inspect, Analysis, Drawing Inspector, Cloud AI — and the generator produces it in one step. Older per-module codes keep working alongside it.
Module page: Inspection Workspace & Auto AlignmentProfile U / UZ in the Section Profile wizard
The wizard offers the same Bilateral / Ⓤ / UZ selector as the GD&T dialog; the material side on the section is taken by point-in-polygon on the nominal loop, not by polyline order.

One datum frame for every row, position perpendicular to the element axis, Copilot auto-flow.
One datum frame for TP, coordinates and profile
HeadlineA single function decides the frame of every position / coordinate row: temporary DRF from the letters, the panel LCS, or the CS. Rows are tagged with their frame and recomputed on a CS switch; a refused frame makes every dependent row N/A with the reason.
Module page: GD&T EnginePosition projected perpendicular to the element's axis
Radial holes are no longer judged perpendicular to datum A's Z. Circles, cylinders, cones and slots project perpendicular to their own axis; planes along their normal; points and spheres in 3D.
Module page: GD&T EngineAuto line that can be trusted as a datum
Auto Line prefers the pair of faces from the B-rep catalogue and collects the face points before decimation; a tube-fitted line whose direction scatter is above the gate is marked unverified and refused as a datum.
Module page: Inspection Workspace & Auto AlignmentCopilot auto-flow
The Copilot arms the next task on its own, counts 'task k of n' and lets the operator undo or re-measure a balloon; it never arms a pick on a balloon that already has rows.

Plane Grid, Wall Thickness Grid, Measurement Copilot, customer balloons, Drawing Inspector in four stages.
Plane Grid
HeadlineA numbered lattice on any planar face: flatness (exact min-zone), flatness per area, straightness per line and per length, regions, edge strips and a closed-contour strip; detail sheets with the number and value at every point; replay on another part with the same balloons.
Module page: Analysis Suite — Plane Grid, Wall Thickness & Section ProfileWall Thickness Grid
HeadlineThree rays per grid point — near face, far face through the material, CAD back face as the per-point nominal — with refusals for single-sided scans, oblique far faces and missing CAD; Cp / Cpk when both limits exist.
Module page: Analysis Suite — Plane Grid, Wall Thickness & Section ProfileMeasurement Copilot
HeadlineThe screen after a program run: one row per balloon with status and reason, open items as tasks, candidates highlighted in 3D, retry through the measurement engine.
Module page: Measurement CopilotDrawing Inspector — customer balloons and four stages
Ballooned customer drawings are adopted verbatim (rings, hexagons, raster rings, coloured numbers); the Inspector runs as drawing → recognition → link to model → program / report with a 'what is missing' panel. AUTO links carry their evidence class; value-only matches become a 'confirm the candidate' task.
Module page: AI Drawing InspectorRun report and red run marks
After a program run a report lists which balloons fell and the root cause of each; every unmeasured balloon is marked in red on the model where the program expected it.
Module page: Macro, Batch & DuplicateOne Workspace interface
The classic window mode was retired; the Drawing Inspector has one entry point in the Workspace, shown only with its licence module.
Module page: Inspection Workspace & Auto Alignment
Updates ship as a compact update installer that replaces only the application files; licence, language, settings and the local AI model stay in place.
